Lessons Learned on the Journey
About the Author and Illustrator

Bob Snyder, MD
Bob spent 20 years practicing medicine – many of those years as co-chairman of the Emergency Medicine Department at Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He continues as adjunct assistant professor of emergency medicine out of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Bob was very content in his work in emergency medicine when God called him and his family to ministry in Hungary (1996). As a result, International Health Services (IHS) was born. IHS trains and mentors Christian healthcare professionals, teaching them how to integrate their faith in Jesus into their medical practices, ultimately impacting patients’ lives, their families and their communities. The Snyders returned to the U.S. in 2003 to continue the work of IHS.

For Bob, life has become a journey. As the years go by, he sees lessons to be learned, some of them painful, some constant reminders, and most life-long truths. He is the proud father of three daughters and a partner in ministry with his wife. He works at golf, enjoys a good basketball game, and is passionate about the Washington Redskins. His greatest love is…Jesus.

Lessons Learned on the Journey is a personal journaling tool that has helped me grow in my journey of faith. Although I write Lessons for myself, I share them with you hoping that my victories and failures may serve to encourage, challenge and enlighten. Blessings to you as you join me on the journey.”

András Simon
András Simon, a renowned Hungarian artist, communicates Biblical truth through his unique and beautiful line drawings. Rejected twice from Hungary’s Art Academy as a result of his faith during Communism, András was not deterred from developing and utilizing his gifts. He offered his talents to God, asking that his work would encourage others to praise the Lord. András’ prayer has been answered as his drawings have touched the hearts of people in numerous countries around the world. He lives in Budapest, Hungary with his wife and four children. His art is exhibited in private collections, including the home of former Hungarian president Arpád Göncz, as well as the Vatican.

How Bob and András met…
Even before Bob Snyder met András, he met his art. Bob was deeply moved by the depth and meaning conveyed through András’ print that hung in the office of the president of the Bethesda Children’s Hospital in Budapest, Hungary. After moving to Budapest, Bob searched for the artist behind the captivating artwork. After tracking him down and meeting him, their friendship developed through their shared passions and love of God. Their time together is marked by meaningful fellowship, music and laughter. After many years of friendship, it was evident that Bob’s weekly devotional, reinforced with the brilliant line drawing of András, would create a meaningful collection. In Lessons Learned on the Journey, the synergy of Bob’s writings and András’ drawings show their genuine love for God.
